Paul Cherry Roha, 90, of Meadville, passed away on Thursday, Aug. 21, 2014, at Crawford County Care Center.
Paul was born Aug. 27, 1923, in Meadville, a son of the late Edward Michael and Bertha Viola Hess Roha. He married Anita Katherine Bailey on April 1, 1960. She preceded him in death on May 3, 1987.
He had been employed by the Eaton-Shilling Construction Company and also spent his spare time farming, which he enjoyed. He was a member of the Local 964 Labor Union in New Castle. He was of the Protestant faith.
He was a sergeant in the U.S. Marines, having entered the service on Oct. 12, 1948, in Buffalo, N.Y., and received his honorable discharge on Aug. 29, 1952, in Norfolk, Va.
Paul is survived by his daughter, Mary Katherine Edwards and her husband, Randy J., of Meadville; a son, Timothy Paul Roha and his wife, Michelle Lynn, of Meadville; three grandchildren, Melissa Ann Smith and her husband, Shawn, of Meadville, Ryan Paul Edwards and his wife, Dawn, of Meadville, and Emmett Timothy Graff Roha of Meadville; two great-grandsons, Chase Conner Edwards and Tanner Jay Edwards; a sister, Leona Pearl Schwab and her husband, Paul, of Erie; a brother, Dale Maderia Roha of Saegertown; and a brother-in-law, Paul Mushrush of Meadville. He is further survived by nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Edward August Roha, Arthur Jacob Roha, Victor Stanton Roha and Ernest Cecil Roha; and a sister, Erma Cecilia Mushrush.
Private graveside service will be held in Stevenson Cemetery, with Pastor Paul Houseworth of Meadville Wesleyan Methodist Church officiating. Full military honors will be conducted by Greenville Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3374.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the ALS Association in memory of Paul’s wife, Katie.
