Alice Caroline Perry Creel, a dedicated educator, and wife of the late Lonnie Mayo Creel, passed away at her home Wednesday, August 26, 2015. Mrs. Creel was born April 5, 1918, in Johnston, South Carolina (Edgefield County) to the late James Paul and Mary Caroline Perry Perry. She graduated from Prosperity High School in 1934 and from Winthrop College in 1938 with a B.S. degree in Commerce. She and her devoted husband, Mayo, were happily married for over 65 years. Alice was a member of Wightman United Methodist Church in Prosperity, South Carolina, until her marriage in 1940 when she joined Union United Methodist Church where she led a full life of service by serving as financial secretary for 45 years. She was also a choir member for 46 years, United Methodist Women President for many years, representative to the annual church conference, and served as well on other committees. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was predeceased by two brothers, Robert Paul Perry (Bob) and Royce Kistler Perry; two nephews, Royce Kistler Perry Jr. and Robert Paul Perry Jr., two nieces Rosemary P. Bledsoe, and Martha Nell Creel Boyd.
