John Wesley White named his son after a man he admired back in Illinois, possibly his school teacher and commander in the Mexican War -- Horatio Vandeever (151227450). His grandfather, Eld. Martin White preached at least one time in Horatio's father, Eld. Aaron Vandeever's South Fork Primitive Baptist church and they had a baptism service there.
