Our precious mother, Hazel Marie Arnoult Roy, passed away at the age of 100 on Saturday, August 22, 2015, at 11:05 a.m., at the home of her beloved daughter, Olivia, in Brusly, LA. Mother was born on July 27, 1915, to Duncan Joseph and Cora DeVerges Arnoult in "her" New Orleans, which was always a part of her soul. Hazel graduated valedictorian of her 1936 Charity Hospital Nursing class. She met and later married her beloved Raphael Waldo Roy on November 27, 1936, and moved to Baton Rouge 3 years later. Her children are Margaret (Ernest) Gremillion, Raphael Waldo Jr., Sybil Jaeger, Michael A. (Gail), Rhett G. (Kimberly), and Olivia LeRay. Once all of her children were in school, Hazel returned to nursing at Our Lady of the Lake Hospital until retirement. Hazel is survived by her children, 16 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild. She is preceded in death by her parents; beloved husband, Raphael Waldo Roy; brother, Duncan Joseph; sisters, Miriam, Grace, Verna, Audrey, Frances, Sybil, and Lois; granddaughter, Denise Roy Shaw; great-grandchildren, Asher, Christopher, and Alyssa Roy; and her beloved Chihuahua "Cara Mia". Mother is known by "Great" to all, so named by the great-grandchildren. It also describes her faith, her life, her generosity, and her capacity to love. We love and appreciate Olivia and her daughter, Adrienne, for their unending care and devotion since mother resided in an adjoining apartment with them. Aside from her membership in professional organizations, mother was a Catholic Daughter and had special devotion to Our Lady and the Sacred Heart. The family requests that visiting hours be observed on Monday, August 24, 2015, at Resthaven Gardens of Memory Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Highway, Baton Rouge, LA, from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, August 25, 2015, at Resthaven Gardens of Memory Funeral Home, officiated by Father J. Clifton Hill. Pallbearers will include Brent LeRay, Brad LeRay, Rhett Roy II, Ryan Roy, Chris Roy, and Landon Roy. Honorary pallbearers will include Randy Gremillion, Jason Jaeger, Eric Roy, Cody Roy, Lawson Roy, Joseph Roy, and Jonathan Roy. Interment will take place at Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
