GREENFIELD – Floyd Douglas Long, age 85, of Greenfield, passed away on Friday, December 20, 2013. He was born on March 14, 1928 in Liberty, Indiana, the son of Elvin Lee and Ella Fern (Pritchard) Long. He served in the Army during the Korean War from 1950 to 1952. He first married Alice Leora (Gates) Long and later married Marie Anthionette (Raney) Long.
He worked for Cummings Diesel as a Diesel Mechanic for 52 years before retiring in 1975. Floyd was a member of Mt. Lebanon United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his step-son, Richard Sipe; sons, Richard Long and David Long; step-daughters, Jane Wilcoxon and Jill Carpenter; daughters, Carol Carlisle and Nancy Meiring; brother, Allen Long; sisters, Marjorie Whistle and Doris Morris; six grandchildren; and five great grandchildren. Floyd was preceded in death by his parents; first and second wife; two brothers; daughter, Susan Long; and step-daughter, Kaye Binford.
Private services are being handled by Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory in Greenfield.
