Irven Weeda - Funeral services for Irven Weeda, age 88 of Bedford, who died Sunday at St. Francis Hospital in Maryville were held Wednesday, November 3, 1999 at 10:00 a.m. at the Ritchie Funeral Home with Pastor Bryan Hansen officiating. Interment was held in the Washington Cemetery in Gravity. Memorials can be directed to the Bedford Meal Site. Services were conducted by the Ritchie Funeral Home of Bedford.

Irven R. Weeda was born August 26, 1911, one of eight children born to Dick and Kate (Romke) Weeda of Tingley, Iowa. He passed away on October 31, 1999. He grew up attending school in Tingley, graduating in 1930. On March 19, 1935 he was united in marriage to Opal Brown in Clarinda. To bless this union, three children were born.

Irven and Opal came to the Bedford area in 1935, shortly after their marriage and farmed the Hardin farm north of Bedford until 1941 when they moved to the Ahren's farm south of Conway. They eventually purchased a farm south of the Ahrens farm, where they remained until their retirement in 1981 when they moved to Bedford. Irven loved being a farmer, raising cattle and hogs, and being associated with the many duties of life on the farm. He and Opal loved to travel, visiting many places throughout the United States, even making a trip to Spain. Irven always took great joy and pride in looking after his family and friends, and in return, after Irven suffered a stroke in 1965, his neighbors put in his crops and took them out. He was a fifty-year member of the Farm Bureau. Irven was a non-denominational Christian worshiper.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Ira Weeda, Elmer Weeda and Bill Weeda; and two sisters, Margaret Weeda McKay and Emma [Mae] Weeda Borrusch.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Opal of Bedford; two brothers, Wayne Weeda and wife Irene of Mandan, North Dakota and Allen Weeda and wife Marjorie of Osceola, Iowa; three children, Raymond [Richard] Weeda and wife Karen [Kay Steen]; Twyla [Wylene] Larison and husband Harlan; and Roy Dean Weeda and wife Dixie, all of Lee's Summit, Missouri; nine grandchildren, Randy Weeda, Rick Weeda, Kimberly Weeda Weddle, Troy Weeda, Cory Weeda, Kristie Weeda Sapp, Philip Larison, Mark Larison and Stan Larison; twelve great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

He will be greatly missed by his loving family and friends.
