Brenda Joyce Hester, 70, of Athens, went home to be with her Lord on Wednesday, Aug. 19, 2015, at her daughter's home in Cleveland.

She was born on Oct. 27, 1944, in Athens and was a resident of McMinn County.

She was a daughter of the late John Nelson Webb Sr. and Della Mae Harris Webb, and was also preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, George Virgil Hester; son, Leonard Ray Hester; grandson, Caleb Jerome Butler; five brothers, Robert Webb, John Nelson Webb Jr., Charles Webb, JW Webb, and Albert Webb; and four sisters, Peggy Wattenbarger, Dora Robinson, Pearle Burke, and Carole DeLane Webb.

She was a Sunday school teacher for 45 years and was a charter member of Freedom Baptist Church of Athens - the Rev. Roy Hogan and wife, Jamia Hogan. She loved the Lord and dedicated her life to serving God first and then her family. She was loved by all who knew her and was there for those who needed her. She was a former employee of the Charleston Post Office.

Survivors include her children, two daughters and sons-in-law, Phyliss and Ed Brooks of Athens, and Teresa and Rick Howard of Cleveland; two sons and daughters-in-law, George Virgil Jr. and Teresa Hester of Athens, and Nick and Cathy Hester of Florence, S.C.; five grandchildren, Amanda Colloms, Zack Hester, Allen Hester, Jeremiah Million and Labron Million; great-grandchildren, Christian Colloms, Miranda Colloms, Peyton and Braxton Hester, Amos Hester, Hartley Million, Aliyah Million, PresLee Million, Maddy Million, Addy Million, Nayomi Million, Nevaeh Hester, Xylia Hester, and Koen Hester; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Hubert L. and Hilda Webb of Cleveland, and Tommy and Pam Webb of Decatur; one sister, Vivian Frances Harris of Athens; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members whom she loved dearly and held close to her heart.

Special thanks and love to her three sisters-in-law, Pam Webb, Parkey Hester and Faye Hester who have been there for her in times needed.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Freedom Baptist Church with Pastor Roy M. Hogan officiating.

Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Shawn N. Hester, Zack Hester, Allen Hester, Jeremiah Million, Labron Million and Ed Brooks. Honorary pallbearers will be Chad Hester and David Robinson

The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
