Mrs. Roy (Bess) Carter of 1306 E. Washington St. died at McCuistion Regional Medical Center at 11:55 p.m. Wednesday.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Fry & Gibbs Funeral Home Chapel, conducted by Dr. James Semple, pastor of First Baptist Church. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.

The family will be at the residence.

Mrs. Carter was born Feb. 2, 1892, in Whitewright, daughter of E. L. Ellis and the former Susanna Williams. She attended Paris public schools, East Texas State Teachers College in Commerce and Mary Hardin Baylor at Belton. She taught school at East Paris School for some 36 years until her retirement in 1961. She married Roy C. Carter in 1918. He was killed in 1919 during World War I in France.

She was a member of First Baptist Church and of the Kendall Sunday School class there. She was a member of the Modern Study Club and a former member of the Texas State Teachers Association and of the Paris Teachers Association.

Mrs. Carter had been in ill health since her retirement.

Survivors include five brothers, A. J. (Jack) Ellis of San Antonio, Homer Ellis of Paris, Printis Ellis of Paris, Lee S. Ellis of Arlington and Eldon W. Ellis of Port Arthur; and several nieces and nephews.
