GLORIA JACKSON JENSEN
1925 – 2015
Gloria Jensen passed away peacefully August 13, 2015 in Brigham City, Utah.
She was born in Fillmore, Utah, May 12, 1925, to Lenore Rogers and Arnell Jackson. Her youth was spent in Fillmore and Sulphurdale, Utah. She graduated from Millard High School and Southern Utah University.
In 1948 she married Bert S. Jensen. The couple lived in Sacramento, California for the first 15 years of marriage, where they made many lifelong friends.
They moved to Brigham City in 1962. Gloria was active in the League of Women Voters, serving as president in 1971-72. She was the secretary at Box Elder Junior High School for 18 years. After retirement, she volunteered for the Red Cross and Meals on Wheels for many years. She was also committed to environmental causes, especially to organizations championing the preservation of southern Utah wilderness, an area that she loved. Gloria was a member of the LDS church and served as the 20th Ward librarian for many years.
In her spare time, Gloria enjoyed gardening, reading, photography, shopping for bargains and spending time with her many friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bert S. Jensen.
She is survived by her daughters, Sherry (Allen) Peterson, and Leslie (Joe) Williamson, and her brother, Ralph Jackson.
Graveside services will be held Saturday, September 26, at 11:00 a.m. in the Brigham City Columbarium. Following the inurnment, an open house will be held at the Iron Gate Grill, at the Eagle Mountain Golf Course. We would like her family and friends to join us in paying a final tribute to her.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Southern Utah Wilderness Alliance, www.suwa.org.
