Ted Walker, age 86, of Boone, died August 17, 2015, at the Westhaven Community.


Theodore Robert Walker was born in Ogden, Iowa, on October 17, 1928, the son of R. Verne and M. Harriet (Germer) Walker.

He attended Boone High School and worked as a farm worker.

Ted enlisted in the United States Army in September of 1946, serving the last few months of World War II. He was discharged in 1948.

On February 24, 1951, Ted married Bonnie Price in Boone.

In earlier years, he worked at the former Ernie’s Servicenter in Boone and then worked as a custodian for the Boone Community Schools.

Ted later worked for many years as a clerk for the U.S. Postal Service at the Boone Post Office, retiring in 1990.

Ted also owned and operated Ted’s Car Wash, both in Boone and in Webster City.

He enjoyed woodworking and making many items for family and friends, coaching Boone Little League teams, and flying model airplanes.

Ted is preceded in death by his parents, a brother Don Walker, three sisters, Dorothy Reed, Doris Lee, and Bertha ‘Bea’ Arnold.

He is survived by his wife Bonnie of Boone; three sons, Kurt Walker, Brian Walker and fiancé Diana Sidler, and Lance Walker, all of Boone; a daughter Karla Neese and husband Lance of Webster City; two sisters, Donna Arringdale of Marshalltown and Judy (Morris) Shirk of Farmersville, Texas; eight grandchildren, Robert Walker, Tracy (Jarod) Ahrens, Michael Walker, Aaron (Amanda) Walker, Selena (Raph) Montag, Katy (Max) Evans, Krista (Ryan) Petersburg, and Kendra (Zach) Chizek; six great grandchildren, Matthew Walker, Michaela Walker, Avery Ahrens, Kelton Ahrens, Elle Montag, and Landry Petersburg; and several nieces and nephews.
