Charles E. Hill, age 90, of Stanley, was a son to the late Charles R. and Marion Ethel Hill. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Jane Herron Hill, of 45 years; son, Ronnie; brother, Jack; great grandchild, Landon.
Spirit of '45 is a celebration ending the Second World War and Charles was not only a Veteran of WWII, he was in an elite group of Veterans as he held the rank of Sergeant in the United States Army. Charles worked as an upholsterer in the furniture industry for 40 years until he retired in 1987. He was a Godly man who loved his family greatly. He was a member of the Stanley First United Methodist Church for 36 years and a member of the Chapel Sunday School Class. Charles also set up a Community Emergency Assistance Fund through his church to assistance those in the community in a financial emergency situation.
A committal service will with military honors in Hillcrest Gardens, Mount Holly.
