In June 1782 he traveled with mother in law Rebecca Lytle Howard and wife Rebecca to Nelson Co., Ky. Probably by wagon to Pittsburgh and then built large flatboats to float down the Ohio River getting off at the falls at Louisville or at Limestone (Maysville, KY). He moved with several other families including: Howard, Herron, Huston, Samuels, Wakefield, Brown and maybe Cain and settled near Bloomfield, Nelson Co., Ky.
Samuel Greer's gravesite is about 2 miles south of Bloomfield on Old Bloomfield Rd.(Rt. #162) at the top of a hill on the Jack Briggs farm, about 1/4 mile south of the Bloomfield-Bardstown Rd. Site was marked by the DAR in 1996 and SAR in 2016 in recognition of his service in Cumberland County, PA militia during the Revolutionary War.
