BLOOMINGTON - Glen Edward Barrett, age 79, of Bloomington, passed away at his residence with his family surrounding him early Wednesday morning, July 3, 2013. He was born on October 31, 1933, in Bloomington, to Merle H. and Stella Barrett.

Glen was a graduate of Smithville High School and went on to serve in the United States Navy as a Engineman 3rd Class during the Korean Conflict and was a member of the American Legion in Bloomington. He spent his professional career with Allison's in Indianapolis, Otis in Bloomington, and finally with Bloomington Transit where he served as a driver before retirement.

Glen is survived by his wife Karen Barrett of Bloomington; son Eddie Barrett and his wife Claudia of Bloomington; daughter Tanya Rezska and her husband Walter of Ellettsville; daughter Yula Ayers and her husband Mark of Bloomington; daughter Kim Barrett of Bloomington; son Douglas Barrett and his wife Melissa of Bedford; stepson Eli Smith of Columbus. Ohio; stepson Arlon Smith and his wife Julia of Camp Le Jeune, North Carolina; stepson Seth Smith and his wife Shannon of Lexington, Kentucky; thirteen grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; sister Stella June Prince of Bloomington and brother Arthur Barrett of Bloomington. He was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings Eula Barrett, Wilma Crites, Ralph Barrett, Louise Combest Kert, Margie Sowders and Freddie Grubb; and his first wife Colleen Barrett.

A memorial gathering for Glen will be held Wednesday, July 10, 2013, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. with a special time of remembrance at 7:30 p.m. by family and friends at Allen Funeral Home, 4155 S. Old Highway 37.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made in Glen's honor to Indiana University Health Hospice, and online condolences may be sent to the family at www.allenfuneralhome.org.
