Funeral services for Edith Burgess Bradley, conducted by Rev. Raye T. Nelson and Rev. Oneil Miller, were held Thurs., Dec. 30, 2004, at St. Phillip AME Church in Salters. Burial, directed by Henryhand Funeral Home, followed in the Smith-Cooper Cemetery. Mrs. Bradley died Fri., Dec, 24, 2004, at Williamsburg Regional Hospital. She was born March 3, 1916, in Williamsburg County, a daughter of the late Annie McCullough. She attended the public schools of Williamsburg County in the Blakely community. She worked as a farmer for many years. She was known for always having a beautiful garden. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Providence # 249. She was a member of St. Phillip AME Church, where she sang in the choir and also held the office of treasurer. She was married to the late Warren Burgess, Sr. Survivors are: seven children: Eliza Jane Williams of Tampa, Florida, Sam Burgess and John Arthur Burgess, both of Kingstree, Leroy Burgess of Hendersonville, North Carolina, O'Neal Burgess of District Heights, Maryland, Bishop Warren Burgess and Celest Burgess, both of Salters; two sons she accepted as her own, June and Darrell Porter; 37 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
