Joan L. Hoyt Gilmore, 75, of 80 Oak St., Wilcox died on Monday, Dec. 16, 2013 at Kane Community Hospital following a brief illness
She was born on Sept. 13, 1938 in Johnsonburg, daughter of Paul "Buck" and Edna Martinez Williams Stewart.
She married Joseph R. Gilmore on Feb. 14, 1970 in the Wilcox Lutheran Church. He died July 9, 2007.
Joan resided in Wilcox since 1980 and was formerly of Johnsonburg. She graduated from Johnsonburg High School in 1956. She was a member of the Wilcox Lutheran Church, Wilcox Sportmen's Club, Wilcox American Legion Post 467 and the Wilcox Senior Center. She was employed by Pinecrest Manor for 7 1/2 years and Gilmore's Restaurant in Wilcox for four years.
She is survived by two sons, Charles "Chuck" Hoyt and Wayne Hoyt, both of Wilcox; a daughter, Crystal Esclrich of Austin; three stepsons, Joseph Gilmore and his wife Regina of Johnsonburg, Gary Gilmore of St. Marys and James Gilmore and his wife Tina of Stella, N.C.; three stepdaughters Ann, Mrs. Donald Franco of Johnsonburg, Collette Giaquinto and Carol, Mrs. Doug Doty all of Ft. Myers, Fla.; four grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 18 step-grandchildren and 20 step-great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her parents, husband; step-mother Agnes Mika; a brother, James Stewart; and sisters Marion Elmquist and Betty Thiery.
