Danbury, NH - Betty A. Cook, 79, of Ragged Mountain Road, died Wednesday, August 12, 2015 at the Merrimack County Nursing Home in Boscawen, NH.

She was born in Lebanon, NH on Oct. 2, 1935 the daughter of Orrin Tucker, Jr. and Ardell A. (Hollenbeck) and was raised by Ardell and Lloyd Phelps.

Betty was a hard worker and held many jobs over the years. She worked for Stratford Cabins from 1950-1954 and was employed by IPC from 1954-1959. She had many jobs as a waitress and also worked for First National in Concord. Until 1976 she was with J.M. Field Grocery Store. From 1987-1990 she was the head cook for Bristol High School.

Betty was a great cook and catered many events. She enjoyed doing crafts especially crocheting. In 2010 she crocheted an afghan for each member of the Danbury Volunteer Fire Department. Betty attended the United Church of Danbury and was a member of the Blazing Star Grange.

Her husband, William R. Cook, Sr., died in 2011. She is survived by three children, William R. Cook, Jr. of Sanbornton, NH, Dale J. Cook of Danbury, NH and Pamela J. Desnoyers of Franklin, NH; 9 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; three brothers, David Phelps of Alva, FL, Andy Phelps of Danbury, NH and Eddie Phelps of Blythewood, SC; a sister, Edwina Grove of Broxton, GA; nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the Chadwick Funeral Home, 235 Main Street, New London, NH on Thursday, August 13, 2015 from 6:00-8:00 P.M. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, August 15, 2015 at 4:00 P.M. in Riverdale Cemetery, Danbury, NH.
