This morning the remains of R.S. Light arrived in this city from Newton, Mo., and this afternoon were buried in Mercer cemetery. Mr. Light died at his home Saturday and the body was brought here to be laid beside that of his uncle, Wm. F. Dickinson, who died in 1882 and who was buried in Mercer. Mr. Light never made ths city his home but he owned two farms near the IXL school house. The remains were accompanied by a son of the deceased. Malaria was the cause of death and the deceased was 74 years of age. There were not services here except at the grave and the pall bearers were made up of acquaintances of Mr. Light.
The casket containing the remains was locked in a burglar proof vault, made of sheet iron. It was impossible to open this in this city and Undertaker Johnson, who had charge of the arrangements was forced to abandon his hearse and have the vault taken out to the cemetery in a larger wagon.
