SHREVEPORT, LA - Funeral services for Laura "Katherine" Bird Stuart, 84, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, December 20, 2010 at Rose-Neath's Southside Chapel. Officiating will be Dr. Chuck McInturf. Interment will follow in Centuries Memorial Park. Visitation with the family will be held from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Sunday, December 19, 2010 at the funeral home.
Katherine was born May 8, 1926 in Henrietta, TX to John R. and Laura Bird. She passed away on December 18, 2010 in Shreveport. Katherine was a member of Woodridge Baptist Church and a lifetime golfer and artist. Katherine was truly devoted to her family, treasuring moments with her grandchildren.
Katherine was preceded in death by husband of 55 years, C. H. Stuart, and brother, J.R. Bird, Jr. Left to cherish her memory are her son, Martin L. Stuart and wife, Mary Lynn; daughter, Melanie H. Stuart; and granddaughters, Lacy Morris and husband Trey, and their son Jake; Amy Thomas and husband Maj. Kralyn Thomas, and their children Rece and Grady; and grandson, Martin Thomas Stuart.
There is no finer tribute than the legacy of friends and family who will remember "Mama Katie's" life filled with love, care and her many acts of kindness.
Pallbearers will be Deacons of Woodridge Baptist Church, Martin T. Stuart, Paul Jordan, and Trey Morris. Honorary pallbearers will be Stuart Eason and Major Kralyn Thomas.
