Florence Z. Akins Long, 81, of Ice Pond Road, Gilpin, died at 3:30 p.m. Friday (July 10, 1998) in St. Francis Medical Center, Pittsburgh, after a lengthy illness.
Born May 29, 1917, in Apollo, she lived in the Kiski Valley all her life.
Mrs. Long was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Leechburg.
She enjoyed baking, candy making and doll collecting.
Survivors include her husband of 61 years, Harry E, Long of Indiana, Pa.; a son Kenneth H. Long of Charlotte, N.C.; three daughters, Mrs. Kenneth (Cheryl) Baker of Allegheny Township, Mrs. Michael (Kathleen) Rice of Dickinson, Texas, and Jean Long of Marienville; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a brother Floyd A. Akins of Allegheny Township; and three sisters, Retha Cohlheppa of McKeesport, Dorothy L. Shope of Kiski Township and Ella Jean Domiano of Vandergrift.
Mrs. Long was preceded in death by two sons, an infant, Gerald E. Long, and Gary Edwin Long; her parents, George and Anna Hazlett Akins; and several brothers and sisters.
