Funeral service for CW4 (Retired) Dennis R. Roper will be 11:00 AM Wednesday, August 12, 2015 at Locust Grove Baptist Church, east of Lawton with Dr. William F. Watkins, pastor and Rev. Jimmy Lehew, associate pastor officiating.
Burial with full military honors will follow at Fort Sill National Cemetery, Elgin under the direction of Becker-Rabon Funeral Home.
The family will greet friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Tuesday, August 11, 2015 at the funeral home.
CW4 (Retired) Dennis R. Roper, age 81, of Elgin passed away Sunday, August 9, 2015 at his home. He was born June 27, 1934 in Chickasha, Oklahoma to Dennis W. and Lois F. (Clancy) Roper. Mr. Roper graduated from Chickasha High School in 1952. He married Wanda L. Thompson on March 25, 1955 in Chickasha. He served in the Oklahoma National Guard for over forty-one years. Mr. Roper was a member of Locust Grove Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, of the home, four children, Pamela Shoopman, Norman, Dennis Roper, Jr. and his wife Kim, Elgin, Bryan Roper and his wife Olga, Garland, Texas and Jana Hapka and her husband Stanley, Lawton, thirteen grandchildren, David Harris, Kristen Roper, Dustin Roper, Laura Shoopman, Brandon Roper, Amy Shoopman, William Henson, Tabitha Gifford, Madeleine Hapka, Alexandra Hapka, Lauren Hapka, Mikaela Roper and Kattya Roper, eight great grandchildren, four brothers, Aubrey Roper, Harold Roper and his wife Arlene, Dale Roper and his wife Sharon and Kenneth Roper and his wife Linda and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a grandson, Andrew Roper, son-in-law, Jackie Shoopman, Jr., sister-in-law, Peggy Roper and two nephews.
