In memory of John M. Lazenby who was mortally wounded in the breast at the battle of Fort Donelson on the 15th and died on the 22 day of February on the steamer "City of Memphis," while lying at Dover, Tennessee and was buried at Mound City, Illinois.
According to Find A Grave Contributor #47036332, "Mound City had one of the largest field hospitals and that is probably why they were transported from Fort Donnelson. There are a little over 2700 Unknown Soldiers buried in the Mound City National Cemetery and I would make the guess that John Lazenby is one of those Unknowns."
