Mrs. Edwin Kirkland
Mrs. Nellie B. Kirkland, 81, formerly of 829 Richmond Ave., died at Rest Haven Home, 609 W. Fourth, Sunday at 8:20 p.m. following a long illness.
She was the daughter of William L. and Barbara Burdette Bateman, born in Ottumwa April 1, 1887. She had been a lifetime resident and was a member of Willard Street Methodist Church, the Royal Neighbors, and the Fireman's Auxiliary.
She married Edwin R. Kirkland in 1909 in Ottumwa. He died March 19, 1950. Surviving are two sons, Ralph and Donald Kirkland, both of Ottumwa; and one granddaughter, Mrs. Sue Watson of Des Moines. She was also preceded in death by one son, Lloyd.
Services will be Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at Johnson Funeral chapel with the Rev. David Ash of the Willard Street Church officiating. Burial will be in Shaul Cemetery.
