Rena was a daughter of Ferdinand A. DeJean (1867–1924) and Philomene Richard (1878–1962). She was a 1920 graduate of Port Barre High School. She married to Basil Ulric Meriwether (1891-1941) 6 March 1926 in Marshall, Texas; they divorced 5 November 1938 in Shreveport, Louisiana. There were no children of this marriage.

She married, second, John W. Baumgardner, and they had one daughter, Linda.

Bumgardner Funeral Services Set for Thursday

Mrs. Rena Bumgardner, 58, of 930 Pine Tree Dr., died yesterday following a long illness.

She is survived by her husband, John W. Bumgardner and one daughter, Linda Bumgardner, both of Shreveport; two brothers, F. A. DeJean, Hodge, and C. A. DeJean, Plaquemine, and two sisters, Mrs. Nora Hass, Opelousas and Mrs. A. Dopmeyer, Houston.

A rosary will be recited at 7:30 pm today in the Rose-Neath Chapel.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. tomorrow in St Catherine's Catholic Church. The Rev. A. M. Chenevert, S.J., will officiate and burial will be in Centuries Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be Joe DeBroeck, Hubert DeBroeck, Johnny DeBroeck, B. R. Hendricks, F. E. Gandy and Paul DeBroeck.
