Arthur Joseph Zinkel, age 81 of N7457 Round Lake Road, Brillion, died on Monday, November 28, 2011 at his home surrounded by his family.

He was born on April 26, 1930 in Manitowoc County son of the late Edward and Rose (Staddler) Zinkel. On June 20, 1953 he married Mary Hojan in Merrill,WI. Art was a lifetime farmer. He also worked at Burger Boat in Manitowoc for two years, Kohler Co. for 10 years, and the Brillion Iron Works for 33 years, retiring in 1993. The family was able to celebrate Thanksgiving on Sunday with all the children, their spouses, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Art was a member of Holy Family Parish in Brillion where he served as an usher for over 50 years, the Knights of Columbus, and the Happy Hoppers Dance Club. He was a great joke teller and he and Mary especially loved to dance and to travel. Art was a man who was very devoted to his family.

Survivors include his wife Mary, his children; David Zinkel and friend Karen of California, Steven (Terri) Zinkel of OK, Thomas (Susan) Zinkel of Chilton, Bill (Tracy) Zinkel of Brillion, Sandy (Ken) Weber of Chilton, Chris (Tricia) Zinkel of Navarino, Julie (Nathan) Stillman of Grimms, Jennifer (Daniel) Urban of Reedsville, Joe (Peggy) Zinkel of Brillion, 20 grandchildren; Michelle (Dan) Grumann, Melissa (Jeremiah) Schwabenlander, Christopher (Wendy) Zinkel, Gretchen (John) Susa, Ginger Zinkel, Sarah (Earl) Hansen, Abby (Jason) Grasse, Michael Zinkel, Rachael Zinkel, Billie Jo Strong, Tori Schoen, Andrea Weber, Anthony (Heather) Weber, Alex Weber, Cathy Weber, Kelsey Zinkel, Logan Zinkel, Heidi (Bill) Oestreich, Stephanie Urban, Tiffany Zinkel, nine great grandchildren, three sisters; Rose (Robert) Bushman of Newton, Florence (Darrell) McCollum of MO, Dolores (Donald) Manlick of Manitowoc, two brothers; Richard (Dorothy) Zinkel of Manitowoc, Herman (Vivian) Sprang of Reedsville, a sister-in-law Joyce Zinkel of Two Rivers. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters and brothers-in-law; Marie (Ivan) Fictium, Margaret (Ray) Trainer, Gertrude (Abdon) Kohlbeck, a brother Anton Zinkel, a half sister Myrtle Sprang, and a half brother Carl Sprang.

Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 2, 2011 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Brillion. The Rev. Timothy Brandt will officiate. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call at the Wieting Funeral Home in Brillion on Thursday, December 1, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. and then at the church on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of mass.
