Marist priest and first rector of St. Patrick's College, Wellington, New Zealand, which was established in 1885, staffed by priests from the Marist College in Dundalk, Ireland, he returned to his native Ireland as President of the Marist Catholic University School, at 89, Lower Leeson Street, Dublin. Shot while leaving the presbytery of St. Mary's Catholic church in Haddington Road during the Dublin rising, he was taken to St. Vincent's Hospital in Lower Leeson Street where he died a few days later.
