Cody Michael Thompson passed away on Wednesday, August 5, 2015,in an automobile accident, just one week after celebrating his 21st birthday.
Cody was a great guy who loved his family. He proudly showed off his "Mom" tattoo and would tell you he was a Mama's boy. He said he got his love of cars from his grandfather and his father. He also got his love of Texas Holdem poker from his Dad. He called his Dad his best buddy. He said he got his love of tattoos from his step-father. Cody loved his sister. He loved kids, especially his nieces and nephews. Cody was especially close to his maternal grandparents, who loved him very much.
Cody loved his girlfriend with whom he was planning his future and with whom he shared, among other things, his love of cars.
Cody was a great friend--the kind of guy you could depend on and was there whenever you needed him. He had a great sense of humor and was always fun to be around.
Cody loved cars--racing them, collecting them and working on them. He enjoyed cruising and going to car meets and hanging out with his car crew. He was a member of the Street Influence Car Club. He was especially proud of the General Lee he built with his Dad.
He loved music, especially metal and classic rock. When people questioned his taste for metal music, Cody would say, "There is a message there. You just have to listen." Cody enjoyed playing the guitar and singing.
Cody was a 2012 graduate of Nelson County High School. He was employed as a welder at FM Sylvan and a member of the Local 502 Welders Union.
Cody was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Dudley and Jenny Thompson.
