Mrs. Margie Marie Murphy Shepherd, of Burkesville, Kentucky passed away on Monday, August 3, 2015 in Louisville, Kentucky. She was born in Cumberland County Kentucky, the daughter of Russell and Clara McCoy Murphy. She was a member of the Burkesville First United Methodist Church in Burkesville, Kentucky and a homemaker. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Russell Shepherd, Sr., her sons, Lawrence Russell “Larry” Shepherd, Jr., Steven Dale Shepherd, her brothers, Dale Murphy and Don Murphy, her sisters, Betty Vincent and Barbara Allen. She is survived by her grandsons, Rusty (and Pam) Shepherd of Louisville, Kentucky, Kris Shepherd of Lexington, Kentucky, her great-grandsons, Adam Shepherd and Bradley Shepherd, her brothers, Jim Murphy of Fernandina, Florida, Gary (and Marleen) Murphy of Bowling Green, Kentucky, her sisters, Charlotte (and Bill) Guffey, of Burkesville, Kentucky and Becky Spears of Glasgow, Kentucky. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, August 8, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in The Memory Chapel of Norris-New Funeral Home with Rev. R. Thomas Wilson and Rev. Gary E. Cash officiating. Songs as requested by Margie, will be sung by her nephew, Bronson N. Murphy Burial will be in the Burkesville Cemetery. Casket Bearers will be Brandon Murphy, Glen Murphy, Bruce Murphy, Billy Newell Guffey, Todd Spears and Kevin Hunt. The family will receive friends after 11:00 a.m. on, Friday, August 7, 2015, until the funeral hour on Saturday.
