KEYSER, W. Va. — Preston Todd Siple, 70, of Route 2, died yesterday morning. He collapsed while en route to his barn. A native of Pendleton County, Mr. Siple had lived near Fort Ashby 40 years. His parents were the late Samuel and Sarah (Smith) Siple. He was a farmer and held membership in Deer Run Methodist Church. Mr. Siple is survived by his widow, the former Miss Edna Carder; three children, Mrs. John Gortner, Arlington,Va.; Fred C. Siple, at home, and Arthur L. Siple, serving with the Seabees in the Aleutians; two brothers, Cos Siple, Fort Ashby, and William Siple, Mendon, Illinois; four sisters, Mrs. Maggie Simpson and Mrs. Cora Waggoner, both of Bridgewater, Va.; Mrs. Otho Byrd, Martinsburg, and Mrs. Hugh Kimble, Upper Tract, and two grandchildren. The body will remain at the home. A funeral service will be held at the home at 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon, with Rev. J.H. Lotsspeich, pastor of the Fort Ashby Methodist Church, officiating. According to Preston's WV Death Certificate #7731, he was born in 1880 (which is not the same date as on the grave marker) and was 70 years old. He was a farmer. Parents are identified as Samuel Siple and Sarah Smith. His wife Edna was the informant.
