Riebe, Paul C.

Paul C. Riebe, age 77, a Manitowoc resident, died Monday morning, August 3, 2015 at Shady Lane Nursing Care Center, Manitowoc, following a courageous battle with cancer.

He was born on March 29, 1938 in Manitowoc, son of the late Del and Sophie (Tadych) Riebe. Paul was a graduate of Manitowoc Lincoln High School, Class of 1956. On March 2, 1957 he married the former Faye Martynotte at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Manitowoc. She preceded him in death on August 27, 2014. After high school graduation, Paul began his employment with McMullen & Pitz Construction Company of Manitowoc. He was then employed with the Manitowoc Company for 41 years, retiring in 1989. Paul played for the Manitowoc Lincoln High School Ships football, baseball and basketball teams. He also played semi pro football with the Manitowoc Chiefs from 1957 until 1959. Paul was an avid sportsman who loved fishing, hunting and being outdoors. He continued to play in many leagues including dartball and softball and was a colorful catcher for Van's Bar softball team. Paul was a longtime member of the former St. Boniface Parish who was on both School Board and Athletic Committees. He also served on the parish council and as co-chair of the St. Boniface Parish Picnics. Paul also served on the Roncalli High School School Board and the Manitowoc Boy Scout Committees serving as an outdoorsman. At Christmas time, he loved to dress up as Santa Claus for the Boy Scouts. He will always be remembered as sporting a beard and mustache, puffing on a cigar or pipe.

Survivors include two daughters: Nancy Riebe, Milwaukee, Mary Jo Boyer, Kennesaw, GA; one son and daughter-in-law: James and Sharon Riebe, Wisconsin Rapids; two grandchildren: Samantha and Matthew; two sisters: Lynne Karnitz and Sister Francette Riebe, both of Manitowoc; and three brothers and two sisters-in-law: Del and Maureen Riebe, Ken Riebe, Larry Riebe and Sheryl Riebe, all of Manitowoc. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. He was also preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers-in-law: Joan and Joe Kennedy, June and John Boswell; and two brothers and two sisters-in-law: Curt and Ruth Riebe, Don Riebe and Ceil Riebe.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 8, 2015 at St. Francis of Assisi on Marshall - 1114 South 21st Street, Manitowoc. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. David Beaudry with burial to follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc.

The family will greet relatives and friends at The Pfeffer Funeral Home, 928 S. 14th Street, Manitowoc, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday, August 7, 2015. A prayer service will conclude the visitation at 7:00 p.m. The visitation will continue Saturday morning at The Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc, from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the morning prayer service at 9:30 a.m.
