Lawrence Democrat- March 23, 1906
The dark angel of death has visited the home of Samie Belew. His loving wife from him has gone forever and he never more can see her sweet smiles on earth again. But can meet her in heaven. The death of Miss Minnie makes every heart sad for she was welcomed everywhere and Christ will welcome her in his bright mansion. The day may be dark but she will enter a home that is fairer than the sun here in this world. Their is a chair vacant in our home that can never be filled by one as true as Minnie. Sleep peaceful Minnie we will all have to pass across the river Jordan weather we are prepared or not but we should all be prepared for we know not what time is ours and death may overtake us before we are ready but we can never call old time back. We are in great sympathy with Samie for we know he is heart broken. But God be with him while he lives.

Memorial and Respects of Mrs. Minnie Belew
On Sunday morning March 17th, the death angel made its sad call in the home of Samuel Belew and carried as its victim the spirit of Mrs. Minnie Belew and took it back to God who gave it. She left her light shining, and we hope the bereaved husband will take this light and let it light up his path from Eath to Heaven, and that when his summons shall come he may be ready to meet her at the golden gates of that home where parting will be no more. It is sad to relate that death must come to one and all, but it is joy to think that in the place of death comes life, beauty and joy. Mrs. Minnie was a Christian woman just in the bloom of life, but God in his wisdom calls the young as well as the old. I will say to the bereaved relatives and friends of Mrs. Belew have our sympathy. We know it is heart breaking and sad to hear the last words of a near relative, companion or child. While here on Earth, but let us not forget the promise we have of meeting again if we will only obey God's commands. Wile there is being one more numbered in the old cemetery at Mount Zion, we feel assured that there is one more numbered with the angels. God has foresaid in His Holy Writings to come unto me, all that are weary and heavy laden and I will give you rest, what a promise that is, that there is a time of rest, so let us bear in mind the last request of the the victim of death. Live right and meet me in heaven.

Minnie Shannon married Samuel Belew on May 29, 1904 in Lawrence County, Tennessee.
