She was the daughter of the late William Issac “Ike” and Ethel Underwood Cossey.
Ms. Claypool loved baking for her family, collecting dolls, and cross stitching. She was devoted to her favorite charities, Disabled American Veterans and AR Children’s Hospital.
Modean was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Paul, Jr.; son, Paul Dean; daughter, Patsy Shenefield; grandsons, Christopher Claypool and Gordon G. Bryan; brothers, William and Bill Cossey; and sisters: Mary Foshee, Ruby Gray Johnson, and Gertrude Burk.
Survivors include her children: Lorine Capleaner, Shirley Rudder, Erenstine (Steve) Bryne, Violet (Gordon) Bryan, Allen (June) Claypool, and Michael (Patty) Claypool; sister, Allie Mae Sunseria; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She will be missed by all who knew her.
The family wants to send a special thanks to Baptist-Springhill Hospital staff and to Modean’s granddaughter, Teresa Pennock, for the loving care she provided during Modean’s illness.
Ms. Claypool's life was celebrated at a funeral service on Tuesday afternoon, on August 4, 2015, at Roller-Owens Funeral Home Chapel in North Little Rock, Arkansas. She was laid to rest at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Cabot, Arkansas.
