Esther Grace (Moyer) Swartley - 90, of Sellersville, PA; formerly of Perkasie, PA went home to be with her Lord on Tuesday, July 28, 2015 at Rockhill Mennonite Community.

She was the loving wife of the late Emerson M. Swartley for 56 years. Esther was born in Franconia Twp., PA to the late Vincent & Mary Ellen (Landis) Moyer.

As a teenager, she worked as a nanny and housekeeper for a local family. Esther worked in a bakery and went to market in the Philadelphia area. She worked in a hosiery mill and then as a clerk at Kulp’s Store. Esther was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a leader and hostess in the Fresh Air Children's Organization in New York City for 14 years. Esther participated in the church's monthly visitation at Allentown State Hospital, providing Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners. She worked as a cafeteria worker for Pennridge School District for more than 5 years and became cafeteria manager at Seylar Elementary School, until retiring in 1990. In her retirement, she volunteered her time as a cashier for the Care and Share Thrift Shoppes in Souderton and for Rockhill Mennonite Community Gift Shop in Sellersville.

Esther was a member of Blooming Glen Mennonite Church where she served as a former choir member, ladies sewing circle member, Sunday school teacher and as a VBS teacher. She also served as a VBS teacher for Bridgewater Corners Mennonite Church in Bridgewater Corners, VT. As a resident of Rockhill Mennonite Community, Esther was part of the “Knotty Knitters” group.

She was an avid reader who enjoyed baking, cooking, crocheting, singing and playing cards and board games. Esther made holidays special with her famous cinnamon buns and homemade rolls. She played the guitar and autoharp and was a collector of salt & pepper shakers. Esther enjoyed traveling with her family and friends. She also enjoyed entertaining friends and making family holiday dinners especially her chicken BBQ dinner on Father’s day. Esther crocheted many afghans for her grandchildren as well as quilts for her children.

She was survived by two sons, Dennis R. Swartley & wife, Darlene M. of Perkasie, PA, Donald N. Swartley & wife, Susan of Souderton, PA; a daughter, Darla S. Rice & husband, Henry M. of Dublin, PA; eight grandchildren – Brian, Ben, Michael, Josh, Tim, Ian, Jordan & Andrew; fifteen great-grandchildren – Morgan, Maddie, Taylor, Mckenzie, Zoe, Austin, Jacob, Brooke, Paige, Akela, Camille, Steen, Sonya, Miriam & Jude.

Esther was also survived by a foster son, Ronald L. Tasker & wife, Jenell & their children – Chelse, John & Richie of Souderton, PA.

In addition to her parents and husband, Esther was preceded in death by an infant brother, Clarence Moyer and seven sisters, Eva Nyce, Katie Moyer Alderfer, Mary Ellen Anders, Maggie Willouer, Ada Alderfer, Lizzie Supplee & Marian Godshall.

Her funeral service was held at Blooming Glen Mennonite Church on Sunday, August 2, 2015. Burial was in the adjoining church cemetery.
