Martin Lejeune dit Briard (149961200)
Suggested edit: He is believed to be the Martin Lejeune who wed Marie Renaud at Grand Pre on 16 Oct 1729. Although the record doesn't give his parents names, Stephen A. White translates his notes in DGFA in the English Supplement to the Dictionnaire Genealogique Des Familles Acadiennes on p.223 -224 as follows:
ii."In the record of Martin Lejeune's marriage to Marie "Renaud"(Rg GP 16 Oct 1729), there is no mention of the parents of either spouse. The first of the witnesses at the wedding meanwhile was Francois Blanchard. At the time, the only Francois Blanchard this could be was the husband of Anne Carne, daughter of Jacques Carne (who died in 1726) and Marie Arnault (or Renaud). Francois Blanchard's presence here makes it clear that the bride was none other than his mother-in-law. Old Martin Lejeune was a contemporary of this woman. These considerations lead to the conclusion that it was old Martin who married, as his third wife, Marie "Renaud" in 1729."
The transcription of the marriage record in Daigre, Una F. ''Diocese of Baton Rouge Catholic Church Record Volume 1a revised: The Registers of St. Charles aux Mines in Acadia 1707-1748'', John J. Pastorek, ed. (Baton Rouge, LA: Catholic Diocese of Baton Rouge, 1999): p.154 . Text:
"Martin Lejeune (parents not given) m. 16 Oct. 1729 Marie Renot (parents not given) wit. {+} Francois Blanchart; {+} Michel Appart; Charle Babain (s); sig. {+} Martin Lejeune; {+} Marie Renot (SGA-2, 224)"
In DGFA, Stephen A White calls the bride "Marie Arnault (Renaud) dit Grisland, vve Jacques Carne."
