SAVANNAH, GA - Clara Ruth Carpenter Brackett, affectionately known as ""Granny"", 85, who lived in Savannah, Georgia, entered into eternal peace on Monday, July 27, 2015.

Clara Ruth was born on Aug. 6, 1929, daughter of the late Charlie and Lilly Carpenter. She grew up in Cherryville, North Carolina, and graduated from Cherryville High School where she met the love of her life, Dewey Z. Brackett, Jr. They married on May 14, 1955, and moved to Lawndale, North Carolina, where they started a family and were blessed with two wonderful children. Together they owned Brackett's Service Station and Tire Company and were members of the Polkville Baptist Church.

In December 2000, she moved to Savannah, Georgia, to live with her daughter and son-in-law. Clara Ruth was a gentle spirit and spent most of her days making others smile. She was a regular attendee of The Sanctuary. She had a passion for flowers, bird watching, cooking, and watching her Braves. While she was a giver of her time and talents, her family was her main passion.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dewey Z. Brackett, Jr. and son, Charles Dewey Brackett. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Doris and Brinson Clements of Savannah, Georgia, sister and brother-in-law, Clora and Larry Wolfe of Bay City, Michigan, granddaughter, Adriane and Billy Marino of Cramerton, North Carolina, and grandson, Jordan Brackett of Hawaii, one great grandchild, Ava, and several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to give a special thank you to Dr. Daugherty and his team, Dr. Glen Scarbrough, Melodie Wilson, Yvonne Sabia and Diane Blazer for their kind and compassionate care they provided ""Granny"" during her last years.

Family will be greeting friends and relatives prior to the service, at 11 a.m., in the Chapel of the Funeral Home.
