Robert L. Lane, 93, Lafayette, died on Wednesday, June 28, 2006, at St. Anthony Health Care. Born in Shadeland on July 21, 1912, to Oscar and Annie (Reed) Lane, he was a life resident of the area. He married Mary Alice Humphrey on March 14, 1932, and she preceded him in death on June 7, 1998. He had served in the civil service in Alaska and the Aleutian Islands.

Survivors include sons Bob (Shirlee) Lane of Monticello, George (Barbara) Lane of Lafayette, and Joseph Lane of Florida; daughters Sharon (Richard) Galloway of New Palestine and Jenny Ready of Ft. Myers, FL; 13 grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; one step great-grandchild; 11 great great-grandchildren; and his faithful companion Sunny. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Sandra Jean Lane; a granddaughter, Connie Galloway-Molton; two brothers and a sister.

Visitation will be from 5-8 PM, Sunday, July 2, at Hippensteel Funeral Home, Lafayette. Services will be at 10 AM, Monday, at the funeral home. Interment will be at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens.
