Gerald 'Jerry' Duane Brown

SODUS - Gerald "Jerry" Duane Brown, 92, of Sodus passed away Sunday afternoon, May 5, 2013, at Lakeland Regional Medical Center in St. Joseph.

Funeral services and burial will be private, with military rites at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Sodus Township. Memorials in Jerry's memory may be made to the Coloma American Legion Post 362.

Jerry was born March 22, 1921, in Ann Arbor. He was the son of Alanson and Kate Brown. Jerry was a lifelong resident of Sodus. He proudly served his country during World War II in the U.S. Navy and was extremely proud of his military service.

On Oct. 12, 1940, he married Beatrice Poling, and together they had two children, Lynn and Diane. Jerry was active in many Sodus Township activities, including the school board, all his life. Many affectionately referred to Jerry as the "Mayor." Jerry was an avid University of Michigan Wolverine football fan. He and his wife enjoyed their yearly trips to Florida.

Jerry is survived by his children, Lynn (Renda) Brown and Diane (Gary) Price, both of Sodus; three grandsons, Bryan (Bonnie) Brown, Jeff (Missy) Brown and Trett (Melissa) Price; and five great-grandchildren, Ashley, Justin and Brandon Brown and Lillian and Kaiden Price.

In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by his wife, Beatrice, in 1999, and by his grandson, Bruce Brown, in 1962.
