Adalberto Arias was born, in Coalcoman, Michoacan, Mexico on July 19, 1937 to Jose and Feliciana Arias. Sadly, he died September 21, 2013 at the age of 76. He was the 4th eldest of 10 siblings. Beto came to the United States with his family in 1962. After settling in Eureka, he worked at a variety of jobs until he went to work for Georgia Pacific and then for Louisiana Pacific and finally for Pacific Lumber. He worked there until he retired in 2002. In 1976, his only son, Cuauhtemoc, Timmy, was born and then in 1999 he became a Grampa to Alex Arias. Then, in March of last year, he became a Grampa again. Kendall Feliciana Rose Arias, was born and changed his world. She was his little "princess" and she stole his heart. He said "she just makes my heart happy". Beto loved to go camping with his brother, Jesus and last week they spent time in Willow Creek doing exactly that. He never missed the annual family camping trip to Benbow on the 4th of July. He and his brother always went down there a few days before the rest of us showed up. He also enjoyed going "yard saling" and watching the Saturday night fights with his brother-in-law, Jesus Mendoza. He was preceeded in death by his father, Jose Arias, his mother, Feliciana Arias (Mama Chana), his brothers, Ramon, Antonio and Rogelio Arias, nieces, Lisa Arias, Shauna Arias and Kara Arias. He is survived by his son, Tim (Shanna) Arias, grandson, Alex, granddaughter, his "princess", Kendall, and his sweet little Haylee Campbell. He also leaves his brothers, Jesus, Antonio (Twilla), and Pedro (Cheryl) of Eureka, and his sisters, Tranquilena, of San Diego, Alicia (Jesus) Mendoza, and Ramona (Arturo) Gasdik, of Eureka, his nephews, Jesse (Lori) Arias, Ryan Arias, Antonio (Tammy) Arias, Daniel Arias and Arturo (Sabrina) Gasdik, nieces, Carmen (Glen) Hiebing, Sandra Mendoza, Lilia (Tariq) Hogan, Monica (Carl) Haygood, Martha Mendoza, Catherine (Sims) McLean, Ida Buckles, Jimmie Buckles, Armando Arias, Laura Lopez and their children, Renee, Angelina, Michael, Ryan, Marcus, Maya, Sara, Marcos, Sergio, Vanessa, Annalisa, Laila, Rhys, Marina, Sophia, Natalie, Aric, Madeline, Milena and Arabella. A kinder soul would be hard to find. A happier soul would be hard to find. Always with a smile and jovial spirit, he never missed an opportunity to be with family and never came empty handed. This special man, our "Tio Beto", is, and will be sorely missed by us all. A Chapel Service will be held this Friday, September 27th at 1:30 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Park, 3975 Broadway, Eureka. Reception to follow, at the home of Sandra Mendoza, 2265 S Street in Eureka. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, please make a donation in his memory to the American Cancer Society or a charity of your choice . Please sign the guestbook at www.times-standard.com and sign the guestbook.
