James Walter “Jim” Jones, Sr. age 91 of the Grassy Spur community in Bandy, VA died Friday May 15, 2015 at Sierra Vista Regional Health Center in Sierra Vista, AZ. Born April 2, 1924 in McDowell County, WV, he was a son of the late Oscar Lee Jones and Sarah Jane Altizer Jones. He was a US Navy Veteran of World War, II and a US Air Force Veteran of the Korean War. Jim was a loving father and grandfather. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Rosemary Blevans Jones; four brothers, Squire Jones, Fred Jones, Edward Jones, and Lawrence Jones.
He is survived by two sons, James Walter Jones, Jr. and wife, Paige of Hereford, AZ and Theodore L. Jones of Victoria, TX; two grandchildren, J.C. Jones and Cody Michael Jones and wife, Stephanie; one sister, Nell Woodall and husband, Joe of Bandy, VA.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 AM Friday, May 22, 2015 at Peery & St. Clair Funeral Home Chapel in Tazewell, VA with Pastor Rod Wicker officiating. Burial will follow at Grandview Memory Gardens at Bluefield, VA where military graveside rites will be conducted by members of American Veterans Honor Guard Association. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-8 PM Thursday, May 21, 2015.
