JOHN COTTINGHAM
(1920-2000)

John Allen Cottingham, 79, of Hamersville, died Thursday, Jan. 20, 2000, at home.

He was born Sept. 7, 1920, in Vanceburg, Ky., a son of the late Clyde Cottingham and Florence McGinnis Cottingham. He was retired from M&O Dredging Company with 20 years of service as a crane operator.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Bessie Welch Cottingham, in October 1985.

Surviving are one daughter, Jackie Schneider of Hamersville; two sisters, Thelma Tolle of Vanceburg and Grace Bivens of South Portsmouth, Ky.; and six grandchildren.

He also was preceded in death by three brothers, Gene and William Cottingham and Clyde Cottingham Jr.; two sisters, Iva Colegrove and Betty Rickett; and one half brother, Joe Dick Hackworth.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at Dickerson Funeral Home in Vanceburg, with the Rev. Kevin Cornette officiating, and interment in Lewis County Memory Gardens. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday and from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
