Arthur E. Conner Jr., 84, a resident of Steere House, 807 Broad St., formerly of Narragansett Parkway, Warwick, head of the ordering department at the Brown & Sharpe, Mfg. Co., for 45 years before retiring in 1967, died Monday at Rhode Island Hospital.
He was the husband of Emily E. (Deacon) Conner.
Born in Providence, a son of the late Arthur E. and Emily (France) Conner, he had live in Warwick for 23 years before moving back to Providence last year.
At age 16, Mr. Conner was first violinist in the former Providence Symphony Orchestra. Later, he graduated from the former Bryant and Stratton Business School, now Bryant College.
Mr. Conner was a member of St. Martin's Episcopal Church, Providence.
For many years, he was active in the Independent Order of Odd Fellows.
Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons, a brother, a sister, four granddaughters and two great-granddaughters.
