Marilyn Louise McCollum, age 86, formerly of Homewood, IL, peacefully passed away at 1:15 a.m. on Thursday, July 23, 2015 at the Hilltop Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Charleston, IL, in the caring company of the facility staff. Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 27th at Salem Lutheran Church, 18324 Ashland Ave., Homewood, with Rev. Dr. David Speerbrecker officiating. Burial will be at the Oakridge Cemetery in Hillside. Visitation is scheduled for one hour prior to the service at the church. Marilyn was born on April 4, 1929 in Chicago, IL, the daughter of Elmer and Emily Wollenberg. She married David Lee McCollum on September 3, 1949. Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, husband David, daughter Kathleen (Kent) Atwood, sister Vernel Radtke, and brother-in-law Glen Radtke. Her survivors include a son, Timothy (Rita) McCollum of Charleston; son-in-law William Kent Atwood of Decatur, IL; four grandchildren - Monica (Jason) Tapp of St. Louis, MO, Michael (Brittany) Atwood of Monticello, IL, Amy Atwood of Seattle, WA, and Kyle (Carol Ann) McCollum of Arlington, VA; and five great-grandchildren.
