Susan Ann Dozzi, 74, a resident of the Forest Grove Community, passed into her Savior's loving arms on Friday evening, November 21, 2014 with family by her side at the Providence St. Vincent's Medical Center in Portland. Susan was born on April 6, 1940 in Cedar Falls, Iowa, to James and Evelyn (Davis) Joy. In 1947 she moved with her family to Denver, Colorado, and later to Greenwood Village, Colorado, where she was raised. She was a graduate of Cherry Creek High School, class of 1958. Upon her graduation she attended Colorado Women's College. She was united in marriage to John T. Dozzi on November 5, 1960 in Littleton, Colorado. They celebrated their 54th Wedding Anniversary this past November. Following their marriage they made their home in the communities of Denver, Colorado, Helena, Montana, Santa Barbara, California, Long Lake, Minnesota, and Rapid City, South Dakota, before moving to the Hillsboro community. They made their home in Hillsboro for fourteen years until November of 2013 when they moved to The Grove Assisted Living Retirement Community in Forest Grove where they have resided since. Susan's pride and joy were her three children and she stayed home as a homemaker to raise them. In the most recent years, Susan spent many hours knitting prayer shawls for those in need of His comfort. She was a guitar instructor as well as an accomplished musician, a long time member of the Episcopal Church and a member the Red Hat Society. Among her special interests, Susan enjoyed photography, horses, knitting, and playing piano. She is preceded in death by her parents, James and Evelyn Joy. She is survived by her husband, John T. Dozzi of Forest Grove, Oregon, three children and their spouses, Andrea and Charles Covolo of Modesto, California, Kevin and Renee Dozzi of Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin, Diana and Jan Halvorsen, of Hillsboro, Oregon, seven grandchildren, Emily Covolo, Courtney Covolo, Kalen Dozzi, twins, Cooper and Rachel Dozzi, Kristine Halvorsen, Natalie Halvorsen, a brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Suzy Joy, of Greenwood Village, Colorado, and three nieces. The family wishes to thank you for the prayers and support during this most difficult time. We take comfort in knowing that she is now at peace in Heaven with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, December 6, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. at the St. Bedes Episcopal Church, 1609 Elm Street in Forest Grove. Inurnment will follow at the Finley's Sunset Hills Memorial Park, 6801 SW Sunset Highway in Portland.
