On the 1st of November in 1907 at the age of 58 years, Eliza arrived in the the first automobile to Athabasca Landing, Alberta from Edmonton, Alberta a ride of 75 miles. The venture started out on the 30th of October with an over night stay at the Hardisty ranch in Sturgeon, Alberta, Canada, Her son William David “Percy” Hardisty was driving and they were accompanied by Margaret Mowat (Percy's wife), William Leslie Wood (Brother-In-Law) and Margaret Victoria "Ria" Hardisty, granddaughter, age 6 years old.
