Miss Ida Holtz, who died August 17th, after a prolonged illness, which confined her to her bed for six months, was one of Chilton’s highly respected women.

She was born in New Holstein in 1863, and has lived in Chilton since she was three years old. After graduating from the high school she was teacher in the Bell district. Later she engaged in the dressmaking business, which she followed for many years. She also served as assistant postmaster for ten years. After leaving the post office she was bookkeeper for Jodar & Hein for a short time, finally retiring from a business line to take care of her aged mother, who at that time was not in the best of health.

Miss Holtz was interested in all public affairs. She was a member of the Morning Star Rebekah Lodge and of the Calumet Chapter of the Eastern Stars and when in good health was a leader of thought in these societies.

She is survived by her mother, three brothers and three sisters.

The funeral was held on Tuesday.
