Melissa Gayle Freeman, 56, of Hollister, passed away on Saturday, July 18, 2015 at her home, with her family by her side. She was born in Lake City, Florida to Edwin and Ernesteen Graham.
Melissa was a graduate of Columbia County High School and First Coast Technical Institute. She worked most of her professional life as a bookkeeper and more recently a food service worker for Putnam County School District. Melissa thoroughly enjoyed the outdoors and the simple life. She loved riding horses, target shooting and fishing. Melissa also loved spending her free time with friends, family and most importantly, her beloved dogs.
She is preceded in death by the love of her life and husband, Charles “Charlie” Freeman, his parents, Charles and Bonnie Freeman, and her brother Eddy Graham.
Melissa is survived by her parents, Edwin and Ernesteen Graham, her only son and daughter-in-law, Justin and Shea Freeman, two sisters and their spouses, Melonie and Dave Daniel and Kimberly and John Williams, sister-in-law, Brenda Cooper, brother-in-law, Ronnie Freeman and many nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, July 25, 2015 at Johnson-Overturf Chapel in Palatka with Rev. A.C. Myers officiating. Burial will follow at Sweetwater Cemetery in Hollister. The family will receive friends between 5:00 – 7:00 pm on Friday, July 24, 2015 at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be sent to Haven Hospice Roberts Care Center, 6400 St. Johns Ave., Palatka, FL 32177.
