Alice Chee Adakai, 77, of Blackfoot, passed away Tuesday, July 21, 2015 at her home.

She was born October 10, 1937 in Gallup, New Mexico to George Adakai and Rita Chee.

Alice attended Brigham City Indian Academy and graduated from Albequerque High School where she was a cheerleader.

She had a strong belief in the traditional native way.

Alice had been together with Bernard Sprague for many years, he preceded her in death on April 17, 2009.

She worked for Twiggs Farms, a potato processing plant and as a waitress in Ship Rock, NM when she was younger.

Alice was very talented in bead work. She enjoyed Pow Wows, puzzles, parades, watching her granddaughter dance and grandsons in their sporting events (except for wrestling because they got hurt), and especially spending time with her family.

She is survived by her daughter, Josephine (Johnny) Littlejohn of Blackfoot; two sisters, Grace Begay of Toadalena , NM and Fanny M. Benally of Ship Rock, NM; three grandchildren, Zachary Littlejohn, Josie Littlejohn and Jonathan “JonJon” Littlejohn; and one great grandson, Wade.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard “Bernie” Sprague; and brothers, Edison, Wilson and Leo Adakai.

A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 24, 2015 at Hawker Funeral Home, 132 S. Shilling Ave., Blackfoot, Idaho. The family will meet for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Riverside-Thomas Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to: www.hawkerfuneralhome.com.
