Born in Monongahela, PA, on July 7, 1941, he was the son of Harold E. King and Elizabeth Alice (Bettie) King, both deceased. Mr. King is survived by his brother, Harold L. King of Eighty Four, PA, and a sister, Kathy E. McNay of Waynesburg, PA.
Mr. King was a graduate of Jefferson-Morgan School District, and later, California University of Pennsylvania. He served in the US Army/Reserves from 1962-1966. He was also a former employee of Equitable Gas.
As a faithful Christian, Mr. King was a long-time member of the Greene Valley Presbyterian Church of Carmichaels, PA. His love for family was undeniable, especially towards his grandchildren, who brought him more joy than life itself.
Mr. King was the beloved father of two sons, Kirk A. King and his wife Lynn of Waynesburg, PA and Timothy L. King and his wife Michelle of Canonsburg, PA.
After marrying his wife Linda on December 3, 1981, he gained three step-daughters who he treated as his own, Pam Bayles and her husband Bob of Carmichaels, PA, Susan Sholtis of Hattiesburg, MS, and Billie Jo Corella and her husband Mark, of Belle Vernon, PA.
Mr. King was adored by his 12 grandchildren, Matthew, Ryan and Christopher King of Waynesburg, Trevor, Cassidy, and Riley King of Canonsburg, Megan Bayles of Carmichaels, Jacob and Nicholas Sholtis of Hattiesburg, and Alexandra, Vanessa and Anthony Corella of Belle Vernon, all of whom referred to him only as "Pap".
Mr. King was an avid NASCAR fan, rarely missing a race. He enjoyed sports, visiting with family and friends, and spending evenings on the porch swing, peacefully swaying with his two best friends, his wife Linda, and his "girl" Maggie Mae.
Friends will be received from 1 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm on Friday, July 24, 2015 in the Behm Funeral Homes, 1477 Jefferson Road, Jefferson, PA 15344 where services will be held at 10:30 am, Saturday, July 25, with Rev. Harold O. Kelley officiating. Entombment will follow in Greene County Memorial Park, Jefferson Road, Waynesburg. Graveside military honors will be accorded by American Legion Post #400 of Carmichaels.
