Fred J. Kramer, 86, of Indiana, died Monday, Dec. 9, 1996, at the Baptist Retirement Center in Scotia, N.Y.
Born Aug. 11 , 1910, in Homestead, Allegheny County, he was the son of Michael and Anna Gunther Kramer.
Mr. Kramer had lived in Indiana since 1937 and was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church. He was past master of the Benjamin Franklin F&AM Lodge; the William S. Daugherty Chapter RAM; Kittanning Council and Holyrood Commandery, and was a member of the Coudersport Consistory and a past secretary of the BPO Elks Lodge 931.
He had retired from the FMC Corp. in 1975 after 39 years of service.
Mr. Kramer had attended Carnegie Institute of Technology (now Carnegie-Mellon). He was an active community volunteer at the Indiana Hospital and for the Meals-on-Wheels program.
Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Andrew (Dianne) Ross, Baltimore; two sons, Dr. David A. Kramer, Scotia, N.Y., and J. Jeffrey Downer, Livonia, Mich.; seven grandchildren, Katherine and Emily Ross; Michael and Derek Kramer; Matthew and Merideth Downer, and Mitch Gelfand; and one sister, Katherine Higginson, Montreal, Canada.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Estella Barron Kramer who died in 1994; one brother, Michael Kramer; and one sister, Anna Flowers.
Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday at Robinson-Lytle's in Indiana. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Zion Lutheran Church with Pastor Sandra Kennedy officiating. Interment will be in the Greenwood Cemetery in Indiana.
