Gayle Haskell Thompson was born January 4, 1935, in Wynnewood, Oklahoma, and died on July 17, 2015, at M.D. Anderson Hospital in Houston, Texas.

Gayle was preceded in death by his parents, Cyrus and Nettie Nona Thompson; brothers, Gormon and Gilbert; and sister, Jenny. He is survived by his son, Jeffrey Thompson & wife Shelly of Plano, TX; daughter, Gayla Gibson & husband Carl of Moore, OK; wife, Jimmy Ruth Thompson of the home; grandson, Jay "Tuffy" Garrison & wife Tiffany of Broken Arrow, OK; sister, Lathelle Dale of Duncan, OK; and brothers, Gordon and Glennis of Grove, OK.
Gayle and Jimmy Ruth were married on March 3, 2012, in Oklahoma City. They enjoyed traveling to Colorado, Utah, Texas, and Branson, Missouri. Anyone who knew them saw their genuine love for each other.

Throughout his life, Gayle loved learning new things. Even when he went to Houston for what would be his final days on earth, he and Jimmy Ruth were planning a side trip to see the city's museums and a fall foliage tour to Branson. He was a world-class husband, father, and grandfather who always put the needs of others first.

Gayle was full of joy and laughter and was an eternal optimist. He loved playing golf, working at Kickingbird Golf Course, and meeting his golfing friends five days a week for coffee and several days each week for golf.

Gayle's greatest gift was perhaps his ability to inspire others to be better husbands, fathers, grandfathers, or friends. He loved his church, Henderson Hills Baptist Church in Edmond, and he faithfully loved and served his God. He lived life to the fullest and was thankful for every day.

We will always remember how much he loved us. We will always miss him and love him forever.

Viewing will be at Baggerley, Tuesday, from 9am to 8pm with family present to receive friends from 6pm to 8pm. Funeral services will be 10am, Wednesday, July 22, 2015, at Henderson Hills with interment to follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, Oklahoma City.
