Doris P. (Kirby) Groleau Stone 98, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on Friday, July 17, 2015. She was born to the late Joseph (Corbeille) Kirby and Stella (Castaldini) Kirby in Chicopee Falls, MA on August 19, 1916. Doris was predeceased by her first husband Rene Groleau of Springfield, MA in 1970 and two of their children Betty (Groleau) Boelke of West Brookfield, MA in 1989 and Ronald Groleau of Chicopee, MA in 2009. She was sadly predeceased by her second husband and best friend John B. Stone of West Brookfield, MA (formerly of Chicopee, MA) in 2003. Doris was also predeceased by eight brothers and sisters. She is survived by her son Richard Groleau of New York City, NY, a step-daughter, six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, four great-great grandsons as well as nieces, a nephew and cousins. Doris graduated from Chicopee High School in 1934. She enjoyed raising her children and later went on to work for Westinghouse in Springfield. After she left Westinghouse she went on to work at Office Products Inc. in Springfield until she retired. Doris spent a majority of her life in Chicopee and Springfield until she later moved to West Brookfield with her husband. She lived there for the last 14 years with her granddaughter Lynn Lupacchino, her husband Paul and their three children. Doris was an avid gardener who enjoyed being outside in the fresh country air. She had many passions including flowers, her friends, her goose Gabby and her dog Rosie. Above all, she took delight in the last three years playing with her great-great grandsons Jack, Vincent, Thomas and Dominic. She will be forever missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. The family would like to extend a sincere thanks to the entire staff of Overlook Hospice Home Care for the care and comfort that they provided. At Doris' request the services are private, for family and close friends. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the West Brookfield Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 540, West Brookfield MA 01585 or to Overlook Hospice, 88 Masonic Home Rd., Charlton MA 01507. A burial mass will be held at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart, West Brookfield MA, with a burial to follow at St. Patrick's Cemetery in Chicopee, MA. Arrangements are under the direction of Pillsbury Funeral Home, 3 West Brookfield Rd., Brookfield MA 01506
